Packing List
These are basic guidelines to follow and can be tweaked to fit your needs, so don’t be afraid to get creative with this and tailor it.
- Plane tickets
- Prescriptions – Bring enough for length of stay. If longer than three months, you will need to see a doctor abroad to re-prescribe. Speak with your doctor before you leave – prescriptions cannot be transferred.
- Backpack Day-pack/fanny pack – for day excursions
- Glasses/contact lenses
- Vitamins – Difficult to find – selection and variety limited.
- Pens, pencils, notebooks Dictionary – for language you are studying.
- Flash drive
- Folding umbrella
- Water bottle – You cannot carry aluminum on a plane.
- Sunglasses
- Journal – journal your experiences
- Watch
- All of your standard shirts, pants, dresses, skirts, and other go-to clothes
- More underwear + socks = less laundry
- Bathing suit
- Comfy but classy travel clothes
- At least one nice outfit and one pair of nice shoes
- Comfortable shoes for walking in sun, rain, snow, etc.
- Workout clothes and shoes
- Jacket for chillier weather – it gets cool at night
- Travel-size shampoo + conditioner + body wash
- Cosmetics + lotions
- Toothbrush + toothpaste + floss
- Feminine products
- Medications or prescriptions
- Sunscreen
- Mobile device + charger
- Laptop + charger + padded case
- Power adapters
- Camera
- Passport + visa (if applicable)
- Student ID, driver’s license, and any other identifications
- Copies of your passport + visa + IDs
- A small backpack for day trips
